Meet the Teachers

New Creations is proud that the 3 teachers on staff have a combined New Creations experience of 57 years. You’ll see in their bios that our staff have an overwhelming love of and passion for teaching preschool aged children. We’re sure you will feel comfortable leaving your little ones in their capable and experienced hands as your children begin their educational journey.

Meet Teacher Penny

Teacher PennyPenny started working with preschool kids as a Sunday School assistant when she was in high school. She has worked with children since, growing from a Sunday School teacher to child care to assistant preschool teacher, and she currently is the Director/Mon-Wed-Fri Teacher at New Creations, where she has worked for the past 21 years.

She loves working with preschoolers because of their acceptance of everyone without expectations, their curiosity in the world around them, and their inspiring love of learning and faith. Her favorite part of her job is when children finally understand something they have been working at—she loves the way their face lights up and they are so proud of themselves, as it’s like seeing a glimpse of God’s love. Her favorite “Free Choice” station is storytime, as she loves that books can take us many places. Outside of New Creations, Penny enjoys reading, sewing, and cooking. She also loves spending time with her daughters and granddaughter. And she loves riding on the back of a motorcycle with her husband of 36 years.

Meet Teacher Ruth

Teacher RuthTeacher Ruth started as an assistant teacher at New Creations in 1990, and currently she is the Tues-Thurs Teacher. She loves working with the children, and that they are a mix of kids from 3-5 years old.

She believes the best part of working with this age of children is that they are honest and fun to be around. Her favorite “Free Choice” activities are the art projects, playdough, singing, and talking to the children during snack time. Outside of New Creations, she likes to read and take vacations with my husband of 39 years. Her guilty pleasure is watching her soap opera “The Young and the Restless,” which she’s been watching it since its start in 1973.

Meet Teacher Sheila

Teacher SheilaTeacher Sheila has a range of experience working with children, including home-based daycare, nannying, leading Girl Scouts, volunteering in the church nursery, and working with developmentally disabled kids in a classroom setting. She as been at New Creations for 15 years, and is currently the Assistant Teacher. Her favorite part of her job is the children—their perspective and enthusiasm.

She loves that preschoolers teach her about what is important in life and help her live her life as Jesus would want her to. Her favorite “Free Choice” station is when children dictate their stories to her at the writing table. Outside of New Creations, she enjoys spending time with her granddaughter and with her husband of 34 years. Her hobbies include reading, photography, and swimming. She also enjoys taking care of her mother and making her house a home. And she loves bonfires, traveling, and trying new things and adventures.
